A Summer Wedding at the Hermitage Museum and Gardens | Norfolk, VirginiaCary and Caroline were married last weekend at the Hermitage Museum and Gardens, and I couldn’t be more excited to announce that this bride and groom are now officially #Caryline !!! (seriously, what a great hashtag) This couple is the best. No, actually. I want to be their best friend. While I’ve known Caroline’s family for a long time, I had never spent much time with Caroline as she is a few years younger than me. Getting to know her and Cary over the past year has been the best part of preparing for their wedding! The wedding day itself was joyous and fun and full of love, and I was incredibly honored to get be a part of it! As an added bonus, I was even able to put my camera down for a few minutes during the reception and dance with the bride’s brother, one of my very close friends. Not gonna lie, I’m a little scared for the video footage of that to surface… There were so many crazy-talented people at this wedding, it’s hard to know where to start! The bride and groom were both English majors in college, and their personal vows to each other were without a doubt the most beautiful vows I have ever heard. Cary’s read like like an actual love poem to his bride. The father of the bride performed the ceremony, and, being an author and professor, delivered his charge to the bride and groom with humor and eloquence. The song performed during communion was sung by the matron of honor’s husband, an incredibly talented singer/guitar player. It was also one of my favorites - “Your Love Is Strong” by Jon Foreman. However, my very favorite part of the day had to be the special “parent dance”. Caroline started it off by dancing with her dad, and then Cary and his mother took over the dance floor half way through the song. The significant part was Caroline’s mom and Cary’s dad performed the song!!!! Both talented musicians, they sang and played guitar while the guests (and vendors!) watched on in awe. I loved how the couple decided to incorporate the two parents who traditionally don’t get the spotlight and made the whole thing into a family affair. I hope you enjoy the story of this beautiful wedding day!! It was truly a special one! PS: I also promised Caroline that I would somehow work the TRUE love of her live, Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers, into this blog post, so here we go. I’ve never known a super fan like Caroline. I’ve also never heard the Jonas Brothers mentioned more times in one day than I did at this wedding. Apparently Caroline was/is a little obsessed with Nick Jonas and wanted to marry him for a very long time. The story goes that she even stalked him in London. The speech given by her maid of honor even named Cary as the consolation prize. Sorry, Cary!!! Her devotion runs deep! I love when I catch shots like this!! All of Caroline's maids getting emotional! CAROLINE!! YOU STUNNER, YOU!!!!! I love little details like this!! The groom's mother is from the UK, and Cary paid homage to his heritage with these cuff links. I loved that the church put this sign up for the newlyweds!! ABSOLUTE PERFECTION! I always enjoy seeing what the groomsmen come up with for the "do whatever you want to the groom without hurting him" picture haha! Christopher, you're a gem. What a gorgeous bridal party!! Hi!!! I love you guys!! Can I be your best friend??? It doesn't get cuter than this! The Hermitage is one of my favorite venues!! A waterfront property with a huge magnolia tree in the center of the yard?
