A Whimsical + Romantic Wedding at The Williamsburg Winery | Williamsburg, VirginiaYou know the advice, “marry your best friend”? Zack and Kristy did just that - these two are best friends of 18 years!!!! These two grew up in the same town on Long Island, meeting each other in the 8th grade. It all started when Zack asked Kristy to be his date to the middle school Valentine’s Day dance and she said yes. They started dating shortly after, but as with most middle school relationships, it lasted only a week (haha!). They were best friends throughout high school, college and beyond, becoming a part of each other's families. Other relationships came and went and 5 years ago, they started dating (again!). No one was surprised - it was meant to be!! The focus of this Williamsburg Winery wedding was on relationships. The two of them, their family, their friends. A good description would be "Good wine, good food and good company". Their bridal party was small and only included their siblings, and the recurring phrases I heard at the wedding were “long time coming”, “finally” and “it’s about time”. The speeches given revolved around how these two were meant to be, that they had been in each others lives and families for 18 years and how happy everyone was that it was finally official. I loved how the day had such a whimsical and romantic air while still being full of ceremony and tradition. They had a butterfly release as they recessed down the aisle, Zack smashed a glass in honor of his Jewish heritage, and they locked up an engraved box of wine and letters to read on their anniversary. Kristy wore the pearl necklace of Zack’s late great-grandmother that his mother had also worn on her wedding day. One of the things that I loved most about this wedding was how much time the bride and groom spent on the dance floor!! I find that this is rarer than you might think, as couples usually end up spending the reception making their way around to tables and chatting with their guests. Zack and Kristy brought everyone to the dance floor with them and it remained packed all night!! The love and incredible friendship that these two have is obvious after spending just a few minutes with them, and it was such a joy to get to witness their first day as husband and wife! Enjoy my favorites from this beautiful Williamsburg wedding!!! A huge thank you to Jess of Wedding Co of Williamsburg for keeping the day running so smoothly!!! I'm obsessed with these colors!!! Sage and gold, oh myyy! SO in love with this vintage-inspired BHDLN dress!!! Kristy gifted Zack cufflinks engraved with the word "love forever" in the handwriting of his late father. There wasn't a dry eye in the room. See that beautiful pendant on Kristy's bouquet?? Zack gave that to her in highschool!! Kristy, you are absolutely STUNNING!!!! Look at those joyful smiles ahhh! A PERFECT DIP!!! They didn't even need to practice!!! Gorgeous bridal party, gorgeous light, gorgeous location. I love these!! Will you take a look at that model face?! Zack, you nailed it! Look at all the butterflies!! The couple released theirs after their first kiss, and their guests released them when they recessed down the aisle. As a surprise for their guests, Zack and Kristy arranged for Williamsburg Field Musick Fife and Drums to play after the ceremony and lead their guests back to cocktail hour! I love how romantic this venue is!! It looks even better in person! The sweetest!!!! All of my soft and romantic dreams came true at this wedding!! I stole the couple away from dancing for a few minutes to get some pictures in the wine cellar! Zack and Kristy, I cannot thank you enough for entrusting me with your memories of this incredibly special day!! It was such an honor, and I wish you two all the happiness in the world!! xo, Courtney Dress: Catherine Dean for BHLDN
