An Intimate Langley Air Force Base Wedding
This couple fills my heart with SO much joy. Really!! All day I was bubbling over with excitement!! I've known Meredith since middle school, and we've walked through quite a few seasons of life together. I consider her to be one of those "forever friends" - someone with whom nothing changes with no matter how much time has passed between visits. As I've said before, THIS is one of the best parts of my job as a wedding photographer - serving dear friends on one of the most memorable days of their life.
Meredith is a nurse and Mark is a fighter pilot in the Air Force. These two have the CUTEST love story and were kind enough to write it for us in their own words.
"Our story starts in an unlikely place: the Books-a-Million in Panama City, FL. Mark was on day 2 of a 2-week work trip flying at Tyndall and decided to wander into the bookstore next to his hotel to find something to pass the time for the next two weeks. After perusing the Sci-Fi and History sections, Mark saw a beautiful girl walk in and decided to wander her way. Meredith had just gotten off a 10-hour nursing shift and was getting a few books for a lively Saturday evening. After a lap to work up the courage, Mark finally approached Meredith to get a book recommendation. After several minutes of trying to remember (or speak at all), Meredith finally had an idea pop into her head but couldn’t remember the book title. A few more minutes of chatting later, she reached out and there it was! The book she was thinking about, The Sense of An Ending, sitting right in front of them. Mark was lucky enough to get her number “for future book recommendations” and the rest is history. They spent every minute they could together during Mark's 2 weeks there, but they knew they were going to be together after only 4 days. After a few months visiting back and forth, Mark got orders to move to Phoenix for F-35 training, and so they packed the truck in Virginia, stopped through Florida for Meredith’s things, and hit the road for AZ. They got engaged on November 10th and got married at the courthouse on the 16th, but decided they still wanted a celebration to bring their family and friends together."
They celebrated their marriage in Hampton, Virginia with 70 of their closest friends and family at the Langley Air Force Base Officer's Club. While it was overcast with threats of showers early in the day, the clouds opened up to a beautiful sunset come evening, making for incredible portrait lighting!! These photos are filled with raw and genuine emotions of joy and love, I hope you enjoy scrolling through them as much as I enjoyed capturing them :)
I LOVE the way Mark smiles at his bride!!
The bride and groom decided to forgo a full bridal party, opting instead for only one best man and matron of honor. It was so special and intimate!
Completely obsessed with you two!!
Because of their adorably unique first meeting place, the centerpieces were stacks of books, and the decor on the cake table was the book that Meredith recommended - The Sense of an Ending!
They used pages from books as the table numbers, with baby's breath, burlap and twine adorning the room.
Even before the parent dances, I looked over to find that Mark had pulled his mom out onto the dance floor. How cute are they?!
GUYS!!!!! Absolute perfection!!!
I could've photographed them all night! The way the laughed and joked but held each other so tenderly. So many moments to capture!
A private dance.
