A Coastal Spring Wedding at the Oyster Farm at Kings Creek | Cape Charles, VirginiaWedding season is off to a wonderful start here on the East Coast!! Last Saturday was an incredibly fun and joyful celebration of two friends of mine in Cape Charles, Virginia, on the most perfect day the entire state had seen in months! I flew back from Hawaii the week before the wedding and started panicking when I landed to 37 degrees. Why was it still so cold? How was I going to survive!? It’s April! The weather stayed pretty freezing that whole first week, and I don’t think I left my house but a handful of times. However, in typical Virginia fashion, the weather was predicted to jump 40 degrees at the end of the week, and the forecasters kept saying that Saturday was going to be the warmest day of the month. Thankfully, they were right! With sunny skies and perfect 75 degree weather, Carly and Reid had the most incredible day for their wedding at The Oyster Farm at Kings Creek. I honestly felt like I was still in Hawaii! The day ended with one of those sunsets that you usually only see in pictures. I honestly don’t know if I’ll ever be able to top the portraits we got!!! You don’t want to miss those! I’ve known this fun and adorable couple for over 5 years now and have spent many a Saturday down at the bay with them. I even was there to witness them start dating (again! after first dating in high school!), and having the opportunity to capture memories for them at their wedding is such an immense honor! They live just a block away from the Chesapeake Bay, so it was no surprise at all when Carly told me they wanted a coastal, beachy wedding. The Wandering Petal did a fabulous job of capturing their vision, complete with sea stars, drift wood, succulents and an oyster shell runner on the king table. The place cards were oyster shells as well, with calligraphed names in gold paint. The Caribbean blue walls of the venue lended even more beach vibes to the day, and provided a perfect backdrop for pictures! The Tidewater Drive Band kept the reception rocking all night long!! Don’t miss the selfie that I took in the conga line!! ;) One of the most memorable parts of the night was when the groom and his former baseball teammates lifted Carly up on a chair as they sang Creed’s “With Arms Wide Open”. This has apparently become a tradition with the guys whenever one of them gets married, and Carly was bride number four to have the honor bestowed upon her. I was having trouble taking pictures because I was laughing so hard! The dance floor was packed from the moment the band started playing until their encore, and I have a feeling the guests would’ve partied till the sun came up if they were able! I hope you enjoy my favorites from this epic celebration!! I was so excited to see this veil - I knew immediately that we were going to be able to use it for some amazing portraits!! Poppin' bottles to celebrate the bride! Carly decided to take out her veil in favor of wearing this gorgeous comb at the reception. I loved all the gold accents!! Such a gorgeous group of girls!! Reid was so excited to see his stunning bride-to-be!! Absolutely obsessed with this bouquet!! Looking good, Reid!!! The perfect wall for these pictures!! Carl!! You are a VISION! Also, your eyes are the exact same color as the wall?! How is that even possible? THAT. VEIL!! Their ceremony site was sheer perfection from the view to the details! They're married!!!! A perfectly whimsical tablescape!! The bride and groom opted for a beautiful donut bar for dessert! The newlyweds kicked off the evening with a choreographed first dance!!! Sunset portraits - the BEST time of the day!!!! THIS IS NOT REAL LIFE! "With Arms Wide Open" was a huge hit!!! Ending the night on stage - it doesn't get better than that!!! Reid and Carly, Thank you for including me in your celebration!! I was SO happy to be there and witness the start of your lives together!
