An Elegant Blue and Gray Summer Wedding at Bayville Golf Club | Virginia Beach, VA
What an amazing day this was!! Jason and Bailey had a gorgeous Saturday in August to say “I do” at Bayville Golf Club. The weather was fantastic, and spending the ceremony and reception outdoors was very enjoyable - not something you would usually expect for August! Although I have shot at Bayville for various sessions throughout the last few years, this was my first time photographing a wedding on their grounds. The reception tent was pitched in the grass behind the club house that overlooks the lake, making for beautiful views for the guests. The golf course itself meanders around a gorgeous strip of waterfront property, filled with pampas grasses, tree-lined pathways, and a few private residences. The thing I love the most about the property is how secluded it is. The million and one locations for pictures don’t hurt either!
A Gold + Blush Summer Wedding at The Lesner Inn | Virginia Beach, VA
Pat and Alaina’s beautiful Virginia Beach wedding day at the Lesner Inn was hands down one of my favorite weddings ever - even considering that it was it the middle of an insane heat wave!! Like a 107 heat index kind of insane!!! That’s when you know it was truly an exceptional one. This day involved so many of my favorite people and spending the day with them was so special to me! I’ve been good friends with both the bride and groom for a long time, and they are two of the most fun-loving people I’ve ever known! Pat and Alaina also love and value their friends so well, and I loved seeing how the bridesmaids and groomsmen supported their favorite couple on what could have been a very stressful day. Speaking of the bridal party, I knew every person in it, so when I say this day involved all of my favorite people, I really meant it. These two truly couldn’t have picked a better group of people to help them celebrate the beginning of their marriage! It’s wedding days like these that remind me that I honestly have the best job in the world - I never once felt like I was working :)
A Summer Wedding at the Hermitage Museum and Gardens | Norfolk, Virginia
Cary and Caroline were married last weekend at the Hermitage Museum and Gardens, and I couldn’t be more excited to announce that this bride and groom are now officially #Caryline !!! (seriously, what a great hashtag) This couple is the best. No, actually. I want to be their best friend. While I’ve known Caroline’s family for a long time, I had never spent much time with Caroline as she is a few years younger than me. Getting to know her and Cary over the past year has been the best part of preparing for their wedding! The wedding day itself was joyous and fun and full of love, and I was incredibly honored to get be a part of it! As an added bonus, I was even able to put my camera down for a few minutes during the reception and dance with the bride’s brother, one of my very close friends. Not gonna lie, I’m a little scared for the video footage of that to surface…
Timeless Virginia Wedding Photography | Portsmouth, Virginia
Haley and Luke began their married life together at the Woman’s Club of Portsmouth on a gorgeous, late spring day! I was so happy to be back at one of my favorite Hampton Roads venues on a day with such wonderful weather. It was warm and sunny but not too humid, and because I always end up shooting at the Woman’s Club at the height of Virginia’s incredibly humid summer, this was truly a gift. The Woman’s Club is one of those classic venues that never really gets old, surrounded by multiple types of gorgeous greenery and waterfront access. “Timeless” is the word that comes to mind when I think of it! In the words of the father of the bride: “I didn’t understand at first why Haley wanted to have her wedding all the way out in Portsmouth, but after seeing this place - wow! I get it!”
A Ballroom Wedding at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront | Virginia Beach, Virginia
I’m kicking off summer by blogging my first East Coast wedding of the season! It’s always a little hard to leave Hawaii, but having a job that I love with people that I love makes the transition back to “reality” a million times better. I feel so blessed that my first wedding back in Virginia was for such a wonderful couple. The bride is someone I’ve known for many years; Liz was one of Morgan’s bridesmaids (see that wedding here!) and they are part of a wonderful group of friends I’ve known for a while now.
