A Summer Sunset Engagement Session at the College of William + Mary | Williamsburg, VirginiaThe weather and light was absolutely perfect on Saturday evening in Williamsburg for an engagement shoot. Kara and Josh are so much fun to be around, and we laughed throughout their entire shoot that started on campus and ended in adjoining Colonial Williamsburg. I love shooting on the campus of William and Mary, mainly because the muted neutrals of the buildings and the abundance of green trees give me my ideal color palette. There are also so many locations to choose from that I am never at a loss for new photo ideas!

A Spring Engagement Session at The Williamsburg Winery | Williamsburg, VAI have known these two beautiful people for many years! Connor and I went to the same highschool, and Kait and I went to college together (and I have actually known her family since elementary school!) After heading to Baltimore post graduation, Kaitlyn returned to Virginia Beach a few years ago and she and I recently reconnected. We have been meeting up for coffee dates to work on our businesses together (she's the most incredible writer and owns the communications services company kvh. creative!) and chat about what God has been doing in our lives. Hearing the way she spoke about Connor, I knew the proposal would come eventually, but I just didn't know how soon! On a family trip to Puerto Rico a few months ago, Connor proposed, Kait said yes (!!) and here we are!! I don't think I could have possibly been more excited when they asked me to shoot the wedding! One of the coolest things about my job is how it connects me with people by rekindling old friendships and creating new ones. I'm so thankful!
A First Landing State Park Engagement | Virginia Beach, VAAhhh! This couple is just so wonderful. I’ve known Justin and Megan for a while now and was beyond honored when they asked me to shoot their wedding this November at the Duke Gardens down in Durham. They recently moved down to North Carolina, but decided to drive back up to Virginia Beach to get their engagement pictures taken, so I was excited to be able to take pictures in a place that has so many memories for them. We decided to shoot in First Landing State Park (which they lived next door to while they were here), giving us both the beach and the forest as backdrops for pictures. It was an overcast morning and the first cool day of the season - perfect early fall weather!
A Chesapeake Arboretum Family Engagement Shoot | Chesapeake, VirginiaThis past Wednesday the weather was - thankfully - cooler than it had been in days, and I met Evan, Olivia and Emersyn at the Chesapeake Arboretum to do a joint engagement/family session. Evan and Olivia have been together for 6 years and Emersyn is their adorable 9 month old daughter!! To say that Emersyn stole the show would be a little bit of an understatement - this little girl is absolutely precious and has the most infectious smile! I have no doubt that her parents will have their hands full for the next 18 years or so ;)
Chick's Beach Engagement Pictures | Virginia Beach, VAMatt and Laurel's engagement session was different than any I've ever done! I'm sure you're wondering how, as most of it seems pretty typical. Beach? Check. Dressy clothes? Check. Gorgeous ring? Check. The thing that made this one different from all the others is this: we shot the entire thing in twenty minutes. No joke, t w e n t y minutes.
How is that possible? Well, when you see the sky turn dark 5 minutes into the session, you realize you have to work as fast as you can! It is also necessary that you have amazingly sweet and easy-going clients who trust you and are willing to run around and laugh at your really bad jokes on command (thank you Matt and Laurel!). |
