A Blush, Navy and Gold Wedding at the Woman's Club of Portsmouth | Portsmouth, VAIt was a hot day on Sunday. Like, HOT hot. Honestly, it was probably the most humid day of the year so far! That didn’t phase Josh or Kara, though! They looked absolutely perfect ALL DAY (how, guys, how?!). We took multiple breaks from portraits to cool off and dry off, but yeah, that was mainly for me :) I think I speak for everyone, though, when I say that having the ceremony indoors was the most thoughtful detail of the day. Thankfully the Woman's Club of Portsmouth is one of the most beautiful indoor ceremony venues in Hampton Roads, and it does an incredible job of helping to bring the outdoors in. The ballroom that hosts the ceremony and reception is engulfed in beautiful light via large windows on three sides, boasts a high a-frame ceiling with chandeliers, and is surrounded by beautiful trees in varying shades of green.
I’ve been excited for this wedding for a while, but especially since Josh, Kara and I were in Williamsburg last month for their engagement session (<-- click here to see it!!) They were so comfortable with each other and being in front of the camera, and I knew that the wedding day wouldn’t be any different! They always exude joy and love, and especially when they’re together - exactly what I hope for all of my couples! I am so blessed to know them and to have had the opportunity to witness this incredibly special day in their lives.

A Gray and Blue Garden Wedding at the Hermitage Museum | Norfolk, VAJoe and Tawnie were married last Saturday in the beautiful gardens of the Hermitage Museum in Norfolk. It was a hot one (hello, July humidity!), but with a nice breeze coming off of the water and the ceremony site being shaded by a large tree, everyone was able to enjoy the day. Tawnie is from Southern California, Joe is from Norfolk, and the two met while playing tennis for Gordon College outside of Boston. After taking a long time to even admit that they liked each other, they finally began dating, were engaged last fall and 3 years later, they’re married!
A Romantic Blush and Green Wedding at the Williamsburg Winery | Williamsburg, VAGet ready for the wedding of the season! When I think of a picture perfect wedding, I couldn’t possibly imagine anything more than Kaitlyn and Connor’s Williamsburg Winery wedding this past Saturday. Starting with the most genuine and kind bride and groom, adding in a gorgeous venue, a beautiful and fun bridal party and the most incredible vendor team, it was truly a wedding to remember.
Kaitlyn’s style is flawless. (Sorry, Connor - knowing Kaitlyn, I have a feeling this was all her! ;)) From the soft blues and greens of her bridesmaids’ dresses and the crowns of greenery on their heads, to the waterfall braid in Kait’s hair and the long strapless lace gown she wore, this bridal party looked like they were straight out of a magazine! The groom and groomsmen complemented the girls nicely with sharp blue suits, brown shoes and classic rose boutonnieres. The flower girls wore some of the cutest dresses I have ever seen, complete with pearls, tulle and ribbons galore. The ceremony arch was covered in roses and white drapery that blew in the wind, while the reception was decorated with candles and greenery everywhere to bring a very bucolic atmosphere to the dark and romantic indoor reception hall. Karen Roa of Aleen Floral Design truly outdid herself!! |
